SLEEPING JOY

The fascination of spaces that sleep in the daytime is the focal point of my exhibition “Sleeping Joy". I take pictures of scenes that have certain purposes. what are these scenarios about, when we are not there? In this project I focus on amusement parks, that reveals themselves after sundown - full of unfulfilled expectations. the work reflects on the aesthetics of the place and the apparent absence of meaning, but gives us hope of true happiness.

I was attracted to the sleeping rides - these colorful parallel universes for big as well as for small - with their staged hopes of true happiness and joy. A summer day in Sardinia, I got a quiet moment with these joy machines, while they rested before the evening show was to begin after dark.
